Gartner Predicts Business
Intelligence Technology Directions
In their latest report,the
Gartner Group predicts that Business Intelligence will
see many innovations in the upcoming year; especially in
the area of Business Activity Monitoring. The report also
predicts that vendors will focus on improvements in the
area of scalability as well.
"dbNews is positioned extremely well in terms of
scalability. From the beginning, not only did we emphasize
ease-of-use
and flexibility, but placed equal importance on scalability
and reliability." reports David Oei, Vice-President
of Innovalink. "As a result, dbNews has never run
into scalability problems from any of our over 12,000 users
of dbNews."
Other predictions that Gartner made for the Business Intelligence
and Business Activity Monitoring sectors in 2004 include:
- In 2004, scaling to large numbers of simultaneous
BI users will be far easier than it was in 2000, but
it will
remain challenging.
- BI tools will lag other solutions for addressing
real-time BAM requirements in 2004.
- Collaboration as mainstream BI functionality will
not occur in 2004.
- The use of Web services within BI deployments and
applications will be limited to pioneers in 2004.
- BI tools will include better visualization in 2004,
but advanced interpretation will lag behind.
